Happy Prosperity 2030 Day!

Hi there,

Happy Prosperity 2030 Day!

On this day two years ago, we introduced Prosperity 2030 — our legislative framework to reduce emissions by 50% along the Wasatch front by 2030.

At a press conference at the Capitol, Sen. Kirk Cullimore emphasized the importance of air quality legislation and outlined Prosperity 2030's roadmap: address emissions from transportation, homes and buildings, and industrial sources.

During the 2023 legislative session, Prosperity 2030 reached two important milestones. First, we introduced a substantial portion of the framework as a massive piece of legislation — likely the biggest air quality proposal the Legislature has seen.

Second, we passed one part of that proposal — HB 220. Our bill specifically addressed bromine pollution from industry, responsible for increasing our wintertime inversion pollution up to 25%, and marked Utah's most impactful air quality legislation in decades.

Thanks to our legislative partners, we have learned many critical lessons in the last two years to inform the Prosperity 2030 process. Namely, put the big idea out there and break it up into smaller items to tick off one by one at the Capitol.

Looking ahead to the 2024 session, we're excited to continue to tackle Prosperity 2030's goals with a series of bills and new legislative sponsors.
